Sand and Surf – Displaying Your Beach Photos

A boy’s first beach vacation deserves a spot on the wall – but how do you display such special memories?
When I made my 101 in 1001 list, taking my little guy to the beach was a no-brainer.
He was four and had never been to a “real” beach and I really missed the beach. Having grown up within a half hour of the pretty beaches of South Carolina’s Low Country, the rocky coast line and lake fronts of the Pacific NorthWest and MidWest just couldn’t measure up.
The perfect opportunity for my trip presented itself when my parents wanted to take a family vacation to Myrtle Beach with my siblings, their spouses and children. It was a bit of zoo and logistical nightmare. But absolutely worth it to watch my son spend time with his cousins, aunts and uncles and experience the ocean for the very first time.
I made a point to put my camera down and experience the vacation *with* my son. Part of it wasn’t really optional – normally, my husband would have been the primary one to take him into the pool and keep up with him. But four years olds aren’t very patient of understanding of Mama’s unwillingness to be wear a bathing suit in public. He wanted to SWIM. So the camera stayed in my room. And that’s ok.
But I did get some beautiful shots of the beach and my family that I need to find a way to display. So I’ve rounded up some of my favorite Pinterest ideas to keep in mind as I”m editing my photos!
In A Frame
I think this would be a super cute option to hang in my little guys room or play room as a reminder of his fabulous week. I’d probably go with a pretty big shadow box and go with a distressed gray paint.
Hanging With Driftwood
We are fortunate to have a large nearby lake that produces beatiful driftwood. If fact, I already have a chunk that could work really well for this. I’d probably use smaller gallery wrapped canvases though for a super clean look.
Wire Hanging
Super simple, clean and easy to fit in just about any room (I”m thinking maybe my dining room which has a small wall I’ve yet to decorate). I would probably use a twine of some kind and coral clothespins.
Wood Photo Frames
This is probably my favorite idea – I already have the image picked out that I plan to use for this project. My husband and I developed a really pretty gray stain that I think would bring to mind driftwood and be the perfect background to our beach photos!
I’m editing photos and gather supplies this week and will be taking photos and blogging my DIY projects as we go. Follow along on Instagram if you want to watch real time progress!

Those are beautiful ideas!! I can’t wait till we have a house with more room to decorate. 🙂
