Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children

Although my son is young enough that we have not dealt with this issue, I am well aware of the challenges that military families face regarding their children’s education. Variances in requirements, immunizations, testing and start and end dates add an additional level of worry to each PCS move.

An announcement by the National Military Family Association caught my eye by mentioning this challenge. 35 states have committed to the Interstate Compact to ease the  burden on military families and ensure military children receive the educational opportunities they deserve.

It is vital that we let our elected officials know that this issue is important to us and make sure they uphold the intent of this compact. Words on a piece of paper do our children no good without the follow through of real improvements.
